The Middleton City Council authorized a purchase order with Big D’s Painting for up to $14,319 to repaint the exterior of the trolley station, with staff saying the project will use colors matched to the existing historic palette.
Staff said the trolley station was painted about 10 years ago after community input and that sun exposure and normal wear justify repainting now. Councilman Murray suggested consulting the Middleton Historic Society; staff said the society had been consulted when the building was painted previously and that the plan is to keep the color close to the current cream with brown doors left darker to match faded trim.
Vote and action: A motion to authorize the mayor to execute a purchase order with Big D’s Painting for the trolley station exterior not to exceed $14,319 was moved, seconded and approved on a voice vote.
What this does not change: Staff said the work will repaint the structure in essentially the same palette and that the brown doors will remain darker to preserve the building’s historical appearance.
