At its Feb. 13 session, the Milwaukee Board of Appeals took the following actions on administrative appeals and procedural items:
- Denied on the merits: Tisha Coleman (reinspection fee for 3229 W. Village St.; motion to deny carried), Gregory Nawrocki (reinspection fee regarding inadequate bathroom ventilation at 4838 S. 14th St.; motion to deny carried), Hassan (solid-waste cleanup charge for 2109 W. McKinley Ave.; motion to deny carried). DNS had offered partial concessions in some cases (two months of reinspection fees waived in Colemans case; administrative fee waiver offered in Hassans case but contractor cost held).
- Denied for nonappearance: Appeals listed on the agenda where the appellant did not appear were denied by motion (examples: Puneet Dillon, Eldon Bodie, Brandon Matthew, Jason Soukri, Mark Wilsinger, and others; motions to deny for nonappearance were moved and seconded and recorded as "so ordered").
- Rescheduled / held: Vacant-building appeals for 4030 N. 11th St. (5 Star Properties) and 4527 W. Medford were held pending a city-attorney opinion on whether an LLC may be represented by a nonattorney member. Four nuisance-property designation appeals (items 23126) were held for supplemental hearings with a police witness to explain incident reports; the board asked staff to coordinate police witness availability and city-attorney participation.
- Procedural and scheduling items: The board discussed and approved the 2024 annual administrative report and discussed future meeting dates (the board explored March 25, March 27, April 10/11, and settled on an April 15 target for supplemental hearings, with staff to confirm availability). The board instructed staff to provide appellants with written instructions on appeal to circuit court when appropriate.
Votes were typically recorded as motions, seconds and "hearing no objection, so ordered" in the transcript; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the public transcript for most items.
