Council approves $304,009 emergency rebuild of Water Plant No.1 clarifier

Lago Vista city council on Feb. 6 unanimously authorized the city manager to execute an emergency contract with Rebuild It Services Group for $304,009 to rebuild a failed clarifier at Water Plant No.1.
The city said an aging clarifier drive failed and left the plant operating at roughly half capacity. The contractor’s scope includes disassembly, inspection, steam-cleaning, replacement of wear items and motors, machining of reusable parts, and a two-year warranty. The work is a turnkey rebuild of the drive unit, a new torque tube and other hardware; Rebuild It’s proposal includes installation, testing and stainless-steel piping where required.
Staff said funds for the emergency repair will come from the utility reserve fund; a budget amendment will follow on an upcoming meeting agenda to formalize the transfer. Councilors asked staff to return if the repair scope or costs rise above the approved amount, and staff said they would bring any needed additional authorization back to the council.
