The Dallas City Planning Commission approved amendments to a planned development district to allow construction of a consolidated rental‑car facility and garage on the northwest line of Manor Way between Maple Avenue and Denton Drive, a site that city aviation staff has used for long‑term airport operations planning.

Applicant representatives described the request as a necessary part of Love Field’s rental‑car consolidation strategy. The commission approved staff’s recommendation with multiple, applicant‑supported changes: an urban‑form setback along Maple, an 80‑foot maximum height and an 8‑story cap, shuttle and bus access routed from Eagan Avenue, and requirements that the street‑facing ground level of any multilevel parking structure contain active uses or articulated facades. Additional conditions require screening and treatments for facades facing Denton Drive and limit exterior parking‑structure lighting to prevent spillover on adjacent properties.

Commissioners and staff emphasized the importance of a development plan that clearly shows loading, short‑term customer drop‑off and shuttle queuing areas outside the public right‑of‑way. The applicant said the city’s traffic engineering team and the aviation department will continue to coordinate final circulation design to avoid queuing on surrounding arterials.

The commission’s approval is a recommendation that proceeds to City Council for ordinance adoption.
