Panel removes cap on computer-based safety training and approves revised certified safety training guidelines

The Employment Training Panel approved revised certified safety training guidelines that, among other changes, remove a previously proposed cap on computer-based training and include general punctuation and grammar clean-up, staff said.

The certified safety training guidelines cover curricula such as OSHA-10, OSHA-30, HAZMAT and HAZWOPER training. Staff told the panel the change will permit more flexibility in delivering safety training, including hybrid and computer-based approaches where appropriate.

Why it matters: Safety training is an important component of many ETP-funded projects; removing an administrative cap on computer-based training allows applicants and contractors to propose training delivery that fits employer operations while still meeting ETP’s reporting and outcomes requirements.
