Council approves consolidation of six Lamp District lots into single C-2 commercial parcel, dissolves prior development agreement

KUNA — The Kuna City Council unanimously approved a combination plat and a modification that dissolves a prior development agreement for the Lamp District, consolidating six lots into a single C-2 commercial parcel at the northeast corner of North Meridian Road and East Deer Flat Road.

The vote, to approve case numbers 2401CPF and the 22-02 development agreement modification, followed staff recommendation that the plat and modification comply with Kuna City Code, the comprehensive plan and Idaho law. Doug Hansen, Kuna planning and zoning director, told the council that staff recommended approval with the conditions listed in the staff report.

The approval removes the existing development agreement and converts the property to a single commercially zoned 34-acre parcel rather than the previously proposed mixed-use “village.” Penelope Constantakis, representing the project team, said the change responds to neighborhood concerns and school-district opposition to the earlier village concept: "We pulled back and started in a different direction; this creates one parcel and simplifies the site so future development can proceed more practically and efficiently," she said.
