Superintendent Jacqueline Cornwell and Assistant Superintendent Natasha Kolmeinen summarized early implementation steps: creating a pre‑K–12 “Portrait of a Learner” rubric, launching student agency and voice groups at secondary sites, expanding LETRS literacy training with in‑house facilitators, continuing development of a multi‑tiered system of supports (MTSS) and embedding social‑emotional learning through Character Strong. Administrators reported a focus on data teams and interventions: the district has increased staffing for intervention teams and is applying personalized learning platforms (ALEKS, PowerUp, iReady) to monitor growth.
On stewardship, SAU staff described longer‑range capital planning (5–20 years) for facility needs and coordination across SAU districts to avoid overlapping large projects. The presentation also referenced investigations into energy efficiencies, including solar, and planning for facility maintenance as bond terms mature.
The board and administrators said they will form a strategic‑plan steering committee and invited community members to join a resource‑sharing committee that has met since 2021. Leaders said they would post metrics and rubrics in a colored packet for public review and will continue iterative conversations with families and staff as programs are implemented.
Administrators highlighted emergency preparedness tabletop exercises conducted with Homeland Security and first responders, a community book study on student mental health and anxiety, and upcoming family engagement opportunities such as a March 4 candidate and budget forum at John Stark.
