Fremont County approves Bar 409 Events’ liquor license for Pathfinder Park despite health reviewer’s concern

The Fremont County Board of Commissioners voted to issue an optional-premises malt, vinous and spirituous liquor license to Bar 409 Events to operate beverage concessions at Pathfinder Park, 6655 Colorado Highway 115 in Florence.
Gerald Maloney, the applicant and representative for Bar 409 Events, told the board the operator was selected via an RFP to handle beverage concessions at the event center and had completed health-department requirements for sinks, water and dishwashing access. Maloney said he had trained, TIP-certified servers and would work with each event organizer on menus and pricing.
The clerk’s office reported the sheriff’s office recommended approval of the license application. The county environmental/health reviewer recommended not to approve the application because of concerns noted in the health review; the county attorney reviewed the full application and recommended approval. The clerk’s office also flagged a separate administrative concern: the sheriff’s office had not identified whether temporary outside fencing would meet the county’s usual permanent-enclosure requirement when alcohol is taken outside the footprint.
On a recorded roll call the three commissioners voted to approve the license application. The clerk’s office said it will complete license issuance paperwork and follow up on the fencing/footprint detail and any remaining public-health conditions.
Maloney told the board he expected to have product and staff set up ahead of upcoming events and that he would coordinate with event planners who previously used other local venues. Commissioners asked about underage-drinking prevention; Maloney said his staff are TIP certified and familiar with carding and ID checks. No new enforcement conditions were added at the meeting; the clerk noted the existing legal and health requirements and the administrative follow-up on fencing and footprint were outstanding items to track.
