Jackson County legislature adopts consent agenda of contracts and appropriations; several items held or withdrawn

Jackson County legislators placed a broad package of ordinances and resolutions on the consent agenda and, by roll call, approved the consent slate. Multiple grant acceptances, contract awards and appropriations for 2025 were included; several items were discussed separately, held for revision or withdrawn.

Key consent items placed for adoption included appropriations and grant acceptances (notably extension of VOCA/VLCA victim-services grant items and several sheriff's office traffic-safety grants), technology and sole-source purchases for county departments, and contract extensions for services such as record storage and print/mail services. At the end of the meeting the consent slate was adopted by roll call with eight yes votes and one absence.

Several items received additional attention: Ordinance 6009 (rezoning of a roughly 117-acre tract from agricultural to residential urban) was removed from the consent list at one member's request and taken up separately for perfection; the perfection vote recorded 4 yes, 3 no, 1 absent and 1 abstention.
