The Galt City Council approved five consent items and confirmed three volunteer appointments at its Oct. 21, 2025, meeting. The consent calendar passed on a 5-0 roll-call vote.
The consent items included: - Receive and file warrants for the period ending Oct. 13, 2025. - Approve minutes of the regular meeting from Oct. 7, 2025. - Adopt the City of Galt Section 125 cafeteria plan. - Approve a new principal civil engineer classification, salary range, incentive matrix and revised salary schedule for the unrepresented mid-management unit (a reclassification within the engineering series, not a new headcount). - Adopt midterm budget adjustments and related items.
Councilmember Reid moved the motion to approve the five consent items; Councilmember Pratt seconded. The roll call recorded every councilmember as voting "Aye." Council members present who voted in favor were Vice Mayor Sandhu, Councilmember Pratt, Councilmember Reid, Councilmember Grama, Councilmember Rodriguez and Mayor Farmer.
On the principal civil engineer classification, staff said the change adds a higher-level classification within the existing engineering series to improve recruitment and provide flexibility for hiring engineers with 15-plus years of experience. Staff clarified this is not a new position but an additional classification; the cityengineer would continue to oversee engineering staff.
Appointments - Beautification Committee: Councilmember John Reid appointed Christy Reid to fill a vacancy with a term ending December 2028. Councilmember Reid disclosed that Christy Reid is his spouse and said he consulted with staff and the city attorney; no conflict of interest was reported on the record.
- Galt Youth Commission adult mentors: Mayor Farmer appointed Camille Van Wormerdam and Vice Mayor Sandhu appointed Esperanza Peevhaus to fill two vacancies with terms ending December 2026. The city clerk's office reported two qualified applicants; neither appointee was present at the meeting.
No public comment was received on the Beautification Committee appointment or the youth commission appointments during the meeting. The consent calendar vote and the appointment actions were recorded in the meeting minutes.
