Greensville Water & Sewer Authority amends readiness-center agreement, awards reservoir grass-cutting contract

The Greensville County Water & Sewer Authority on Oct. 6 approved two actions: an amendment to a 2019 memorandum of agreement with the Virginia Department of Military Affairs related to management of the readiness center water system, and a contract for annual reservoir grass cutting.

The board voted to approve Resolution WS 26-1, an amendment that staff said was required after the readiness center experienced a water-system incident that prompted the Virginia Department of Health to impose additional requirements. Authority staff told the board the amendment updates the cost allocation to cover added requirements and adjusts for inflation; the Department of Military Affairs has already reviewed and signed the amendment, the authority said.

The authority also awarded the reservoir grass-cutting contract (Resolution WS 26-2) to Optara for $12,637.50. Staff recommended Optara after sending six request packages and receiving one responsive bid. Staff said careful contractor selection reflected concern to avoid damaging the reservoir lining, citing a prior costly repair.
