Saline Area Schools welcomes 80 new hires across roles, superintendent lists staff mix

Superintendent Kowalski told the Saline Area Schools Board of Education that the district welcomed 80 new employees over the summer and thanked building principals and district administrators for their work on recruiting and onboarding.
Kowalski said the district’s human resources team helped most new hires begin work by Aug. 20. She provided a breakdown that includes 28 new classroom teachers; three speech-language pathologists; six occupational therapists; one teacher consultant; one multi-tier support staff member; one board-certified behavior analyst; 18 paraprofessionals; two custodians; three literacy tutors; three transportation employees; one administrative assistant; one CTE technician; three Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) staff including a new GSRP leader; two one-to-one nurses; three Young 5 aides; three office staff; and one superintendent (role listed by a new hire).
Kowalski said 42 of the new hires attended the district’s new-staff orientation in August and she plans to schedule an alternative orientation date in October for those who could not attend. The superintendent thanked HR staff and school leaders for their work to prepare classrooms and services for the school year.
Several of the new employees introduced themselves during the meeting, naming their positions and years of experience. The board collectively welcomed the new staff.
