County outlines capital projects: facilities storage, road projects including Lofton Road, and park/airport improvements

New or continuing projects listed for the coming year include:
- A Facilities Maintenance storage building for equipment (approximately $30,000 in professional services and $200,000 construction estimate), intended to relieve indoor space and provide storm-response staging; - Improvements at the old Public Works office and mechanic shop for additional storage and roll-up door repairs; - Sports complex parking for a newly acquired sports-complex parcel; - Equipment storage building at Road and Bridge; - Road capital projects, including Lofton Road, which was explicitly noted as included in the package.
Staff said the county is reducing the number of multi-year carry-over capital items now that many projects have been completed since 2015. Commissioners asked for project lists and schedules; staff said more detailed lists are available and that additional project pages had been left at staff desks for review.
No final approvals or contract awards were made during the workshop; staff requested direction on any changes before the board finalizes the draft budget at the follow-up meeting.
