County budget staff correct sheriff budget page after animal control revenue was included in law-enforcement total

County budget staff told the Okeechobee County Commission they updated the sheriff’s department budget pages to remove animal-control receipts from the gross law-enforcement revenue line after identifying the items were previously grouped together and producing misleading comparisons.
Budget staff said the sheriff tab in the packet now shows the fiscal year 2025 adopted, the fiscal year 2025 amended, and the fiscal year 2026 proposed budgets with two percentage-change lines (adopted-to-proposed and amended-to-proposed). Staff noted adopted-to-proposed is 9.39% and amended-to-proposed is 3.6% on the updated page.
The budget office included a copy of the annual requisition that itemizes what the county pays the sheriff’s department, and staff flagged that only the top page required correction; the other pages were unchanged. Commissioners asked the budget office to put the corrected pages into each commissioner’s packet.
No formal action or vote was taken during the session on the sheriff’s budget.
