City marks completion of Tehachapi Event Center fencing; airport taxiway project finished after decade-long effort

The notice for the Tehachapi Event Center said Yukon Fence installed just under 800 feet of fencing in front of the rodeo grounds. Staff said the work was delivered on time and on budget and was informational only; no council action was required.
The council was also told that the rehabilitation and relocation of the airport taxiway had been completed after a multi-year effort. City staff described the taxiway project as roughly a decade in the making, with more than $7,000,000 in grant funding and $5,800,000 in construction costs referenced during the presentation. Staff credited Airport Manager Ashley Whitmore and Bartali Engineering's John Smith for leading design and construction management; staff said the Federal Aviation Administration had been involved in approvals and that the city assisted with project management.
Both items were presented as notices of completion and informational updates; the council did not take separate action on either item at the meeting. City staff answered a few council questions about landscaping and future use of asphalt chips for site work.
