Tehachapi council amends downtown entertainment zone to add festival dates

Community engagement staff told the council the change will add the Tehachapi Pizza Festival (initial date Sept. 27, backup Oct. 18) and the Tehachapi Apple Festival (Oct. 11) to the entertainment zone map and will move the Thunder on the Mountain car show from Sept. 27 to Sept. 20. The staff recommendation cited amendments to "ordinance 25 2 7 80 and the Tehachapi Municipal Code section 12.10 0.30." The council approved the resolution after a brief motion and second and a roll-call vote.
The downtown entertainment zone is a local ordinance-authorized area in which the city permits the public consumption of alcoholic beverages on designated public streets during approved events. City staff said the map adopted in April only needed date updates to reflect the fall event schedule.
The motion carried on a 4-0 roll call. Council members recorded as voting yes were Council member Chung, Council member Davies, Mayor Pro Tem Power and Mayor Provencourt.
The amendment is effective immediately for the listed events; no other changes to the ordinance were discussed at the meeting. The council did not identify any conditions or amendments to the approved dates during the vote.
