The Wylie Public Arts Advisory Board on July 17 elected Steve Shank as chair for the 2025–26 year and Gloria Suarez as vice chair, and approved the board minutes from June 26, the board announced at a brief organizational meeting.
The actions came at the start of the board's regular meeting, called to order at 6:05 p.m. A board member nominated Steve Shank for chair; another member seconded the nomination and the motion passed with four votes in favor and none opposed. Gloria Suarez was nominated and elected vice chair by the same margin. The board also voted to approve the June 26 meeting minutes; the motion to approve was made and seconded and passed 4–0.
Board members used the meeting to introduce new and continuing members. Janet Piper identified herself as a member of the Parks and Recreation Board and said she was filling in for Julie Pannell. Brent Stowers served as the staff liaison for the meeting. Other members who introduced themselves included Steve Shank, Manoj Spardhi, and a member who identified only as Corey. One member who identified himself as "Bobby" said he has previously served on local boards including the zoning board of adjustments.
There were no members of the public in the gallery to speak on nonagenda items, so the board moved directly through organizational items and routine business and adjourned after the votes.
The brief meeting established leadership and approved the minutes ahead of the board's upcoming work for the 2025–26 year.
