At its Jan. 27 meeting the Manassas City Council approved a consent agenda, authorized and later certified a closed meeting and took action on seats and appointments to multiple city boards and commissions.
The council moved to adopt and dispense with reading of the consent agenda. Vice Mayor Wolf moved the motion, Councilwoman Vasquez Luna seconded, and the roll call recorded all members present voting yes: Vice Mayor Wolf; Councilmembers Vasquez Luna, Ellis, Smith, Rosina and Hudson. The motion carried.
Council then approved a resolution authorizing a closed meeting (R2025‑515) to discuss qualifications of applicants for city boards and the performance of specific city officers. The vote on R2025‑515, after discussion, recorded the following: Vice Mayor Wolf — yes; Councilmember Tom O’Cena — yes; Councilmember Ellis — yes; Councilmember Smith — no; Councilmember Vasquez Luna — no; Councilmember Hudson — yes. The motion carried.
After the closed session, council adopted a certification resolution (R2025‑516) by roll call (motion by Vice Mayor Wolf; second by Councilman O’Cena). The certification vote was recorded as carrying by the council.
Council then declared vacancies for two seats previously held by Sandy Day — on the Joint Recreation Center Advisory Board and on the Board of Equalization — and directed the appointments committee to recruit applicants to fill the unexpired terms. That resolution passed unanimously by roll call.
Finally, council approved a slate of appointments and reappointments to city advisory bodies (R2025‑526). Appointments included reappointments of Emeral Latouche and Derhaj Jagadev to full terms ending June 30, 2029, and the appointment of Judith Molinari to the Historic Resources Board for a term ending June 30, 2029. The motion carried on roll call with Councilmember Smith recorded as voting no on the appointments resolution; other members voted yes.
All recorded motions and roll calls are included in the official meeting minutes.
