El Centro to launch redesigned city website paid with ARPA funds

El Centro city staff announced that the city will launch a redesigned website tomorrow as part of a bundled contract with CivicPlus, and said the work is funded through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.
City staff described the site as a “modernized” platform with an accessible, mobile-friendly design, an integrated mass notification/alert center, improved search and archives, chatbot support and department calendars. “This new platform is built to serve you faster, smarter, and more connected than ever before,” the presenter said.
The project was presented as a multi-product purchase that bundled the website with CivicPlus services including Civic Clerk, Civic Rec and a mass-notification system. When Council Member asked about cost and funding, staff said the contract is paid from ARPA funds and estimated the total contract price at roughly $114,000 for a four-year term; staff said the bundled purchase reduced the price because multiple services were purchased together. Staff said there is no impact to the city’s general fund or Measure P. Council members offered brief thanks and no members asked to delay the launch.
Council members and the presenter highlighted the site’s advertised ADA compliance and administrative benefits, including improved analytics and back-end support. Staff played a short video demonstrating features and said a department-by-department rollout and training will follow the public launch.
The council did not take a formal vote on this presentation. City staff said they will answer follow-up questions and finalize any remaining procurement paperwork.
