City presents Mustang Park multigenerational center plan, sets GMP at roughly $80 million and 2027 completion target

Crane said the project is part of the city’s Let's Play Irving Aquatic and Community Center initiative. The proposed facility would be about 127,000 square feet and include common areas, program spaces, athletics and fitness space, a dedicated senior area and indoor aquatics. "This amendment will set the initial guaranteed maximum price of just over $80,000,000," Crane said, and he provided a target substantial-completion date of May 12, 2027.
Crane described renderings and program elements, including a walking track, children’s activity areas, a senior entrance and multiuse spaces. He said the city expects a groundbreaking in late June or early July 2025 and an estimated opening in June 2027.
Why it matters: The center would add substantial indoor recreation and aquatics capacity for Irving residents and represents a major capital project with a multiyear construction schedule and a guaranteed maximum price that will affect budgeting and cash-flow planning.
