Contracts approved included a 2025 Chevy Silverado dump truck with sander and plow from Liberty Chevrolet of Wakefield for an amount not to exceed $98,831 and authorization for the Town Administrator to sign. Town staff noted the vehicle will not be accepted until after July 1 because funds will not be available until the new fiscal year.
The board also approved a TRX 50 radio box receiver system (equipment, installation, programming, testing and training) with LW Bills Company (Georgetown, Mass.) not to exceed $75,082, and an 8½-by-16-foot flat‑top car hauler trailer from Yerid Trailer Sales & Service (Medfield, Mass.) not to exceed $13,500. The fire chief had requested both items; the meeting packet included quotes and the board approved authorization to sign.
A board member asked whether the truck would be traded in; staff confirmed the existing vehicle will be traded to a junkyard as part of the replacement plan.
Why it matters: The purchases replace aging equipment used for winter maintenance and emergency services communications and support. Officials emphasized deliveries and invoicing will occur after July 1 so the expenditures align with the new fiscal year.
