Board reviews MOU with ACE of NEPA to expand pre‑K classes at three schools; union review pending

District officials told the board they are negotiating a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with ACE of NEPA to operate pre‑K classes this year. The program was previously done at one site; the new arrangement would expand to three classes across Sumner, Adams and Plaza. The district said the MOU is a continuation of last year’s agreement, with the union (SFT) and attorney Moran reviewing contract language.
Staff said the change will require a board motion to reconfigure the three buildings from K–4 to pre‑K–4 to allow the pre‑K classes to operate. Board members were told the MOU review is ongoing and that additional classes are being negotiated; the district will return the finalized MOU and reconfiguration motion for approval when legal and union questions are resolved.
No final vote was recorded at the work session. Staff said they expect motions on the MOU and the building reconfiguration to be included in the upcoming packet once attorney review and union feedback are complete.
