Pike County commissioners completed routine business on May 21, approving vendor payments, awarding correctional food contracts, opening several proposals and adopting two proclamations. Key votes and administrative actions recorded in the meeting are below.
Votes and approvals (selected): - Approved payment of county bills from the general fund in the amount of $966,626.95. - Approved payment from the bridge repair account in the amount of $184,835.98. - Approved payment from Act 8 in the amount of $808,700.00. - Awarded the triannual groceries and frozen-food contracts for the county correctional facility for the contract period 07/01/2025–10/31/2025 to the following vendors: Madilla Foods ($93,215.95), Driscoll ($22,643.58), Cisco ($14,523.81), Bernard ($17,313.74), and Food Cohort ($81,505.70) for a total award of $229,202.78. - Opened proposals for the strategic management planning program (see separate article); selection tabled to June 4, 2025. - Opened proposals for coordination and service delivery to eligible older adults and disabled persons on behalf of the Area Agency on Aging; proposals will be reviewed by the Area Agency and returned to the board on June 4, 2025. One bidder, Don Jeep Homecare, submitted a unit cost of $20.25 per hour. - Opened and reviewed unit-price bids for a roadway/paving project (Lindy Construction submitted a sum bid of $208,600 with optional unit-price items; total bid amount shown in the packet was $271,100). Commissioners moved to table the engineer approval and award to the June 7 meeting. - Adopted Resolution 25-18 declaring May 2025 as Mental Health Awareness Month; Carbon Monroe Pike Mental Health and Developmental Services staff attended and displayed youth artwork. - Adopted Resolution 25-19 declaring Emergency Medical Services Week, May 18–24, 2025 (see separate article for the operational update). - Authorized several administrative agreements and forms, including: chairman authorization to execute an agreement for services between RealRealAuction.com LLC and the sheriff’s office; execution of Pennsylvania DEP 901 municipal waste planning grant disbursement request form; multiple Human Services vouchers (including $1,867.50 for a Human Services Fair and $58.75 payable to the recorder of deeds for the Pike County Home Program); housing rehabilitation lien execution; and purchase-of-service agreement between Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Services LLC and the county on behalf of Children & Youth.
Ending: Most items were routine approvals or openings of procurement processes. The board tabled a small number of awards (strategic planning program and a paving award) to allow additional review; several grant and contract authorizations were signed or authorized for execution.
