The commission heard from Tammy Robinson, finance director, that the YMCA submitted a request for $60,003.72 to replace the floor at a YMCA facility and that the request had previously been held pending further review.
Robinson said the county’s budget for the year is set and the request would need further study; she asked the commission for direction. Commissioners discussed the possibility of using sports-complex funds but noted such a use could require changing a charter ordinance or resolution depending on how the fund is restricted. "If we use the sports complex fund, we'd have to change the charter ordinance or charter resolution," a commissioner said, noting the need to confirm whether the existing charter language permits that expenditure for a non-county facility.
Commissioners directed staff to put the YMCA request on a future agenda for more detailed discussion and research into legal and charter requirements and possible funding sources. No appropriation or formal approval was made at the meeting.
