St. Helens — The St. Helens School District board voted on Jan. 29 to approve an intergovernmental agreement with the City of St. Helens to fund a school resource officer (SRO) at St. Helens High School beginning in August 2025.
Acting Superintendent Webb recommended reinstating the SRO program that had ended several years ago, saying the district plans to budget the position in the spring budget process. Webb told the board the annual cost for 1 officer is $170,000 and the district intends to place that cost in next year’s budget to provide time for hiring and training.
