The Fayetteville City Council on Feb. 24 approved a special‑use permit allowing an automotive wrecker and vehicle‑storage service to operate on a property on Cumberland Road with a reduced separation requirement from residential uses.
The applicant said the business will serve crash clearance and towing needs and will employ local workers. Staff noted the property previously housed a related automotive operation and that the proposal was consistent with existing industrial zoning. The council’s motion made the six special‑use findings set out in the zoning ordinance and approved the permit with the reduced separation standard.
Council discussion included verification that the adjacent building is a prior commercial use (a gutter business) and that the site is gated; staff and the applicant said there are no immediate residential properties abutting the operational yard. The motion passed unanimously.
