The Fayetteville City Council approved a five‑year cash incentive totaling $63,948 for “Project CrossFit,” an air‑dome manufacturer that told the council it is considering locating its U.S. headquarters, manufacturing and distribution facilities near Fayetteville Regional Airport.
Rob Patton of the Fayetteville‑Cumberland Economic Development Corporation presented a project summary in a public hearing on Feb. 24. Patton said the company would create 72 full‑time jobs with an average salary of about $47,734, a projected capital investment of approximately $4.1 million and estimated ten‑year local tax returns of $229,192. Patton said North Carolina, Minnesota and Georgia were competitors and that speed through permitting and approvals was an important factor.
No members of the public registered to speak at the hearing. Councilmember Mahindros (motion) and Mayor Pro Tem (second) moved to approve the incentive as presented; the vote was unanimous. Patton said state and county incentives have also been engaged, and staff said the county public hearing on its participation is scheduled for March 17.
Council members welcomed the projected investment and noted the city’s willingness to coordinate permitting and expedite reviews.
The council’s action authorizes the city manager to finalize the incentive agreement consistent with the terms presented in the public hearing.
