Gatesville High choir students honored for All‑State selections

Gatesville ISD trustees recognized three Gatesville High School choir students for being selected to the Texas Music Educators Association All‑State Choir and thanked staff and families who supported the program.
The board recognized Katie Hobson, Paisley Wells and Memphis Wells for making the All‑State Choir after a statewide audition process that draws thousands of students. The district said only about 20 students statewide make the All‑State Choir in each category.
The recognition highlighted the choir program’s recent run of competitive success and growth. At the meeting, a district speaker said the program “set another program record.” The three students, their choir teacher and family members came forward for photographs and certificates.
Student Katie Hobson told trustees she plans to attend Belmont University in Nashville to study music education. Paisley Wells and Memphis Wells also spoke about their future plans: Paisley has made All‑State in consecutive years and said she hopes to make it again; Memphis said he plans to pursue sound recording at South Plains College. Hobson said of the All‑State performance, “It’s nerve racking … but it’s good because you already know you’ve made it.”
Trustees and staff praised the choir instructors and noted the program’s expanding participation; one speaker said 20 students had competed recently and several would proceed to state solo and ensemble contests.
The district did not announce any additional funding or policy changes tied to the recognitions. The ceremony concluded with trustees congratulating the students and releasing them from the meeting.
