Jennifer Marks and a co-owner identified only as Alexandra, who said they are artists and owners of the Iron Abbey, told the council the shop will sell handcrafted goods, vintage items and antiques and host art classes, gallery nights and community pop-ups. "This permit will help us do just that. We're really excited to be a part of Woonsocket small business community and contribute to the city's creative and cultural landscape," Jennifer Marks said.
Council members closed the public hearing and then, during the Board of License Commissioners portion of the meeting, moved to approve the license. Councilwoman Gonzales made the motion; Councilwoman Fox and Councilman Dubois were recorded as seconding. The clerk announced the vote as 7–0 in favor; the item was approved as "25 LC 05." Council members offered brief congratulations from the dais.
The applicants were told the council would take up the license application later in the meeting; no objections were raised during the hearing and no conditions were announced.
