Staff presenter Maria (staff member) told commissioners the project proposes a new building of approximately 6,750 square feet on Lot 1 of the Green Highway 72 Commercial Subdivision adjacent to an existing Crash Champions building of about 8,270 square feet on Lot 2. Maria said the applicant requests two types of metal panels: Alucobond Plus aluminum composite material (ACM) panels for the front entry tower, covering about 400 square feet, and new core (ribbed) steel panels for the rear wall, covering roughly 1,100 square feet. Maria said the town adopted a new section of the zoning ordinance in 2021 that sets brick, stone and wood siding as the default exterior materials in commercial areas, and that high‑quality metal can be allowed only on a case‑by‑case basis.…
