The Ouachita Parish School Board observed a presentation of five Building Bridges grant awards at its Feb. 11 meeting. Chris Kelly of the West Monroe/West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce announced the winners and presented checks, noting the program's second year and a rise in applicants.
Kelly listed the five teacher winners and their schools: Shelby Hardy (Claiborne Elementary), Samantha Murphy (Shady Grove Elementary), Stuart Feckle (Sterlington Middle School), Christina Peters (Good Hope Middle School) and Amy Katie (West Monroe High School). He said the program was conducted in partnership with Pattern Energy and that it had doubled the number of applicants from the prior year.
Board members congratulated the winners and invited them to the front of the meeting room to receive their checks.
No formal board action was required for the presentation; it was entered into the meeting record.
