Colonial SD launches new online registration; kindergarten registration opens tomorrow

District staff presented an updated online registration form for kindergarten and all future enrollments during the Feb. 10 Curriculum Committee meeting.
Staff said the new system will align registration fields with current mandates about what the district may request, offer translated cover letters and that the platform (PowerSchool) will translate the form when a user'level browser language is set. Kindergarten registration was scheduled to open the day after the meeting; staff prepared email and website notifications and a translated cover letter for families who need it.
Committee members asked about multi'language accessibility and whether families who do not have internet access would be able to complete necessary steps in person; staff said certain guardianship or proof'of'eligibility issues will still require in'person visits but that the majority of families should be able to complete the process online. Staff said they will promote the registration through email to existing families, website and social media posts, flyers for preschools and community locations and an updated list of preschools for outreach.
Staff noted they can track email open rates for district newsletters but that click'through data for specific registration links is limited in their current tools; ultimately, staff will measure promotion effectiveness by the number of completed registrations.
No committee action was taken; the item was informational and staff said they will monitor registration levels as they open.
