Jamestown approves series of routine resolutions including bond payments, hires, equipment purchases and lease

Jamestown City Council approved a set of routine finance, public safety and administrative resolutions during its Jan. 27 voting session, taking action on bond payments, personnel hires, equipment purchases and a lease for a legal aid office.
The votes were taken by roll call; council members present voted in the affirmative on the items recorded during the session.
The city approved two payments on public improvement bond issues: $449,000.02 on bonds issued Nov. 19, 2013, and $226,431.00 on series A public improvement bonds issued April 22, 2015. The council also approved lifting a hiring freeze to permit hiring one court security officer and to allow the hire of one police officer.
Other approved spending items included small purchase agreements for fire-department equipment and community outreach supplies. The council authorized a purchase with The Home Depot Inc. for tools and equipment to install combination smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, not to exceed $1,020.97; a separate Home Depot purchase for community-outreach educational furniture, equipment and supplies not to exceed $469.11; and an agreement with Deville Safety Equipment Inc. to buy 1,000 combination smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, not to exceed $41,000.00.
The council approved a lease for office space to Legal Assistance of Western New York Inc. on the first floor of Spring Street, effective Jan. 1, 2025, through Dec. 1, 2029. In public-safety business, the council authorized a revision to section 2-15-41 of the Jamestown City property maintenance code and approved an agreement with the Jamestown Renaissance Corporation to provide security cameras for monitoring Terrace Park and Winter Garden Plaza downtown.
The council also asked the Board of Public Utilities to install a new 150-watt-equivalent LED fixture on BPU pole 31610 on Norton Avenue and reappointed Kimberly A. Eklund to the office of Commissioner of Deeds for a two-year term.
All of the items listed above were presented as pre-filed resolutions, each called, discussed briefly (where applicable) and approved by roll call vote.
