Enid paid $71,950 to employees who sold back personal days under semester buyback plan

Robinson said certified staff eligible for the first‑semester buyback numbered 543; 111 certified employees received payment. He noted part‑time employees received prorated amounts and 39 certified employees qualified but opted out. "We paid out a total of $55,000 for that program for certified staff," Robinson said.
On the support side, 455 employees were eligible and 59 received payments (some prorated by hours worked); Robinson said the district paid $16,950 to support staff. "Total payout for the district... is $71,950," he said.
Robinson explained the program operates by semester: employees who opt out in the first semester do not receive payment later for that semester even if they meet criteria in the spring. When asked whether those who opted out could later receive payment, Robinson said no: "Because they they opted out of the program." He described common opt‑out reasons (planned vacation, procedures, family care).
Robinson and other officials said they hope second‑semester results will show higher participation and that the district will report back to the board with spring figures in June.
