Superintendent Dr. Darrow said the district met with Vance Air Force Base and the Department of Defense and was asked to update capacity numbers and the project timeline in the application. He said the district is obtaining additional documentation from Colonel McCurry at the base and "once we get that, those numbers updated, we will resubmit the application again."
Darrow reported outreach to federal and state elected officials: he spoke with Michael Cooper and "representative Chad Caldwell," both of whom he said were supportive and pursuing potential funding. He also said Mayor Panekin has requested another $210,000 from the Oklahoma Strategic Military Planning Commission; if secured, Darrow said, that would put the mayor's total received so far at about $750,000.
Colonel Little, who participated in the call with base representatives, confirmed the discussion and noted that Lieutenant Colonel McQuarrie was out of pocket for the week; no action was taken and the project remains in the application and documentation phase.
Board members asked questions but took no vote; district staff said they will resubmit once requested updates and supporting documentation are assembled.
