Monroe County School District staff reported Jan. 28 that auditors identified no findings in the district's 2023-24 financial audit and no findings on internal school accounts.
Superintendent's staff and the finance team thanked auditors and district bookkeepers for the work that produced the clean report. District leaders said the result reflects sustained attention to internal controls, detailed grant reporting (including CARES Act-linked funds) and timely billing and documentation.
The board voted to accept the annual financial audit and later approved the November 2024 budget summary reports during the action portion of the meeting. Board members said they wanted monthly budget summaries to remain on the agenda while the district moves into the next year's budget process.
District staff noted the district will begin next year's budget cycle and reminded board members that enrollment trends and immigration dynamics could affect revenue assumptions. The CFO and superintendent said they would present budget flexibility options and analysis in a forthcoming workshop requested by the board.
