County honors Road Scholar and Roadmaster graduates; LTAC outlines expanded training and safety-package pilot

Valley County commissioners presented certificates to county road employees who completed LTAC Road Scholar and Roadmaster programs and heard an extended presentation about upcoming training and safety resources.
An LTAC representative said the Road Scholar program includes roughly 80 hours of coursework with seven core classes and electives; the Roadmaster credential builds on that foundation with more intensive classes. The presenter described plans to add leadership classes through Boise State extended studies and to create agency safety packages (signs, cones, paddles and stands) that would be distributed through monthly drawings to agencies that attend training.
Commissioners and staff praised the program’s contribution to staff skills and retention. The LTAC representative said many instructors are retired engineers and practitioners who bring practical knowledge to the classroom and, in some hands-on courses, participants install Best Management Practices on-site as part of training.
The board thanked staff and training partners and encouraged continued participation; several county employees posed with commissioners for certificates and photographs following the presentation.
