Valley County commissioners approved a $58,300 contract with Silver Creek Brush Management on Jan. 21 to perform fuels-mitigation work at the McCall Kings Pine unit.
County staff said Silver Creek is a new contractor for Valley County but has performed similar work in Adams County and southern Idaho. The planned work covers 26 acres, and the county will require standard new-contractor filings such as insurance and a W-9 before work begins.
Staff discussed coordination with the U.S. Forest Service on mitigation work at an adjacent small ski hill and noted the area overlaps a pre-identified “pod line” — a geographic line firefighters use to hold or contain fires. Commissioners approved the agreement by voice vote and noted continued discussions about funding and whether the Forest Service or other partners will share costs for adjacent work.
The motion to approve the contractor agreement was moved, seconded and adopted by voice vote.
