American Fork council honors library, confirms legal and finance appointments, approves sewer rules and contracts

American Fork — The American Fork City Council on Jan. 14 presented a state “quality library” award to the American Fork City Library, confirmed several staff appointments and contracts, adopted two municipal-code amendments clarifying water and sewer connection rules, and approved a sewer rehabilitation contract and a developer reimbursement agreement.

The State Library’s development program manager, Marilee Cannon, presented the quality library award and said it recognizes Utah libraries that "exhibit exemplary standards in multiple facets of library service," citing the American Fork Library’s 2024 outreach to park users, Spanish speakers and seniors, author events and sign-language programming. Cassandra, the library director (first name given in the meeting), thanked staff, the library board and the council for support.

Why it matters: The code amendments and infrastructure contracts affect how multiunit residential properties connect to city water and sewer systems and fund local system improvements; the appointments name the city’s legal and financial officers who advise and implement those policies.
