Buildings and grounds committee orders core samples, seeks HVAC and track pricing

The board’s buildings-and-grounds representative said engineers and contractors will perform core samples at the high school track so vendors can accurately price any resurfacing or full replacement. A contractor will take samples to assess the subgrade conditions beneath the existing track before giving a final estimate for coating or full reconstruction.

The same report said the district is seeking HVAC pricing for a possible system upgrade at Houston Berwick. The district will convene a kickoff meeting with engineers to walk buildings and gather quotes; staff plans to bring the pricing and recommendations back to the buildings-and-grounds committee for consideration.

The buildings-and-grounds representative said initial inspection of the tennis courts showed that core sampling there is unnecessary; the court likely needs a coating rather than full reconstruction. The representative requested that collected core-sample and HVAC pricing information be presented to the committee to determine next steps.
