Linda Jenkins, secretary and a district 1 representative on the Sales Tax Overview Committee, briefed the Tulsa City Council Jan. 8 on the committee's monthly status report and highlighted progress on several Vision 2025 projects.
Jenkins told the council the demolition for McClure Park's pool and plunge area was completed Dec. 11, with artificial turf, shade and other pool amenities planned; Woodward Park improvements have a notice to proceed and a prework meeting; Swan Lake Fountain rehabilitation is nearing final completion with work expected to finish by mid-January; and the Greenwood Cultural Center had a site visit Dec. 4 to prioritize scope and is planning to present 25% plans in the third week of January. Jenkins also said the animal shelter expansion received its building permit Nov. 14 and anticipated bidding and a February bid opening. Jenkins noted that an airport infrastructure project with Spirit is complete and now listed as finished under Vision 2025.
John Huffines, who spoke during the STOC portion of the meeting, thanked Jenkins and then made remarks expressing support for zoo improvements and community projects.
Councilors did not discuss changes to the STOC report on the council floor during the televised portion of the meeting. The items Jenkins described remain at various stages: design and planning for Greenwood Cultural Center; construction procurement for the animal shelter expansion; park amenity installation at McClure and Woodward parks; and final punch-list work at Swan Lake Fountain.
