Comal County commissioners approve routine claims, donations, road acceptances, grants and appointments

The Comal County Commissioners Court approved a package of routine claims, donations, road acceptances, grants and appointments at its regular meeting on Jan. 9, 2025.
The court voted to approve claims presented for Jan. 9, 2025. During the motion Commissioner Hogg moved to approve the claims; Commissioner Leacock seconded. The motion included two line items recited in the motion: EFT of $1,150,913.10 and regular claims of $1,701,267 (the motion also recited a total of $2,850.80).
The court accepted a $10,000 check from William Mayo for deposit to line item 0100004825 (Sheriff—s Office general donations). Sheriff Reynolds told the court the donation would be combined with another gift to purchase an application intended to benefit county residents. Commissioner Hogg moved approval; Commissioner Leacock seconded.
The court accepted multiple road and subdivision-related items (see listing below), appointed members to the Comal County Historical Commission, reappointed Heather Harrison to the Water Oriented Recreation District of Comal County Board of Directors, and approved routine administrative items including the tax assessor-collector—s monthly collection report for December 2024.
The court also approved several grant and contract actions: an interlocal application for immunization program funds for the Comal County Public Health Department, authorization to submit an application for a rural law enforcement grant under Senate Bill 22, and authorization for the county to enter a contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for increased law enforcement services at Canyon Lake. The court approved an award of contract for an inmate telephone system (RFQ 2024336) and approved a purchasing policy revision (see separate articles for details and discussion).
In executive session the court authorized Commissioner Hogg to execute a contract for purchase of real property as discussed in closed session and approved a release agreement with Rod Knight (the judge was authorized to sign the release agreement).
