Residents report cannabis odor; GTI expansion expected at planning commission meeting

Centreville — Council members on Jan. 2 reported recent resident complaints about a cannabis odor in town and noted a presentation by GTI on Jan. 15 to the planning commission regarding an outdoor grow expansion.
Council Vice President Kiel said residents have posted about a noticeable cannabis smell in the past two weeks and asked staff for contact information for GTI; staff said they would provide it. Councilors said the planning commission meeting on Jan. 15 will include a GTI expansion presentation and that residents can attend and raise concerns there.
The council did not take action on the odor complaints at the Jan. 2 meeting; instead, members encouraged residents to attend the planning commission meeting and for staff or the company to follow up on monitoring and mitigation.
