Staff reviewed a forthcoming public hearing on Jan. 9 regarding a rezoning request for the Bridal Lancaster property, northeast of Blau Park and west of 10th Street.
Staff said the annexed property is proposed for single‑family detached residential zoning consistent with the city’s land‑use plan and compatible with adjacent zoning and uses. The notice area extended roughly 500 feet to notify nearby residents, staff said. Planning & Zoning Commission recommended approval by an 8–0 vote.
If council approves the rezoning at the public hearing, staff said the developer’s preliminary plat would appear for council consideration on Feb. 6. No new details of the preliminary plat were presented during the work session; staff emphasized the property’s compatibility with adjacent residential uses and that improvement requirements have been a focus of prior correspondence with neighbors.
No formal votes were recorded on the rezoning during the work session; the item is scheduled for the public hearing on Thursday night.
