Trustees extend EMS district withdrawal deadline to July 1, 2026

Cross Plains — The Village of Cross Plains Board of Trustees on Oct. 6 approved extending the withdrawal deadline in the EMS district agreement from Dec. 1, 2025, to July 1, 2026.
The agreement to request a uniform extension was circulated to all towns in the EMS district and staff asked member municipalities to place the item on October agendas. The extension was recommended by village staff and the village attorney provided guidance that the extension should be passed formally.
During public comment, Tim Heneman of 486500 Gordon (as recorded) urged trustees not to dissolve or undermine the local EMS organization, calling it a “working organization” the village still needed. Trustee discussion indicated the board will revisit the item if any other town fails to approve the extension; staff said the board plans further discussion at a meeting on Oct. 27 if needed.
A trustee moved to approve the agreement extension and a second followed. The motion passed on a unanimous voice vote.
