Cross Plains — The Village of Cross Plains Board of Trustees voted Oct. 6 to purchase and install a $40,000 playground for Scenic Valley Park, drawing on playground improvement fees collected from developers and neighbors.
Parks staff presented images and described the item as “phase 1” for the neighborhood, saying community outreach produced “pretty much no objections.” The proposed purchase includes fiber and timber safety surfacing, and staff said the installed cost of $40,000 covers equipment and installation.
Trustees asked about available park-impact fees and future budget plans. Staff said the village currently has approximately $84,013.50 in park impact fees on hand and expects to include roughly $44,000–$45,000 in next year’s budget for further playground expansion in that area. Staff also told trustees that installation savings compared with catalog prices could be $40,000–$50,000 given the procurement approach.
A motion to approve the purchase was moved and seconded and passed on a unanimous voice vote. The motion record in the meeting minutes indicates trustees approved the purchase and that staff will return with plans for possible expansion depending on additional funds and neighborhood consent.
