Coffeyville commission approves water‑right purchase, sewer relocation contract, street design and multiple equipment purchases; tables hospital ordinance

The Coffeyville City Commission approved a series of infrastructure contracts, equipment purchases and an appointment at its regular meeting, and again tabled a home‑rule ordinance concerning the local medical center.

Commissioners voted unanimously to approve Resolution R‑25‑31, authorizing purchase of a parcel atop Big Hill just west of the city—s water treatment plant to provide right‑of‑way for an upgraded water main and to allow construction of two 24‑inch mains intended to improve isolation and repair access. Jim Wright, the executive director of public works, explained the purchase would replace five closely routed lines and asked the commission to approve a negotiated sale because the property owner preferred selling the parcel rather than granting an easement.

The commission also approved Resolution R‑25‑32, awarding a construction contract to Ursham Construction LLC to relocate a sanitary sewer main in conjunction with Evergy—s new substation. Wright said Evergy will pay the relocation costs; four bids were received and the city—s engineering firm recommended the low bidder.
