Cutler Bay Middle School rises from C to A; district officials and council celebrate

Officials from Miami‑Dade County Public Schools told the Town Council of Cutler Bay on July 17 that Cutler Bay Middle School has achieved an A school grade after previously holding a C rating. Rafael Villalobos, the county regional superintendent, and principal George Parra described achievement as the result of school leadership, teacher work and community support.
Villalobos said the South Region and Cutler Bay schools have had continued “amazing” progress and credited leadership teams, teachers and parents for the turnaround. Principal Parra thanked community partners and said the improvement reflects sustained work across feeder schools. Council members and town officials described the A rating as a milestone and noted the town’s long partnership with district schools.
The council read brief congratulatory statements from state and county elected officials — including District 115 Representative Omar Blanco, Senator Alexis Collatayune and School Board member Luisa Santos — praising the school’s advancement and the town‑district partnership. District staff also distributed packets to council members describing volunteer and internship programs (including a district initiative called Ed Ventures 305 and multi‑language parent webinars) and encouraged the town to amplify those opportunities.
Council members said they would continue to partner with the district through the town’s education advisory council and outreach initiatives.
