A group of Carbondale residents announced a volunteer-driven initiative, calling themselves (for now) the Carbondale Beautification Club, and proposed working with town staff to support plantings, cleanups and other public-space projects.
Jeff Bosler, a resident who helped organize the effort, said the idea grew out of conversations on social media and a First Friday booth; he reported that roughly 60–70 volunteers have signed up to help with projects ranging from planting and maintaining raised beds to daily sweeping of sidewalks and tactical urbanism items. Bosler left a short survey with a town staff member to gauge interest and asked the town to consider the group as a willing volunteer corps.
Trustees and staff praised the initiative and suggested coordination with existing groups, including Bee Friendly Carbondale, the Art Around Town project and the bike-ped trails committee. Trustee Chris and others encouraged Bosler to connect with town staff, the parks-and-recreation commission and the Bee Friendly group to develop projects with long-term maintenance plans.
No formal town action or funding request was made at the meeting. Staff welcomed the volunteer offers and said the group could serve as an extension of volunteer efforts for the town’s ongoing maintenance and public‑art projects.
