Harrisburg lays out summer enrichment schedule; online sign-ups still open

Kevin Sanders summarized locations and timing: programs will use Fourth & Emerald, Reservoir Park, Sunshine Park, Cloverly, and Fifteenth & Vernon; daytime programming is scheduled Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., beginning June 16 and running through Aug. 8 (field-trip days may change daily hours). An evening program at Reservoir Park is scheduled Monday through Thursday, June 16–Aug. 7 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sanders also described a tennis program relocated to John Harris Tennis Courts (weekday evenings for different age groups) and an “Art in the Park” series on Tuesday evenings from June 17–Aug. 5, 6–7 p.m. Lunch will be provided each day by the food bank, Sanders said.
On enrollment, Sanders advised residents to register via the city website (HarrisburgPA.gov) by creating an account in the recreation portal, selecting a location and completing required paperwork; staff emphasized families must check out at the rec desk when required. Councilmembers asked whether sign-ups were still open (Sanders confirmed they were) and whether nonresidents may enroll (Sanders said the program is traditionally for city residents though nonresidents have been enrolled on occasion). Councilman Jones asked about programming at Fourth and Dolphin; Sanders said there is no program at that location this year because the site lacks a pavilion required for feeding participants.
Sanders said the pool season is slated to start on June 17; staff reported adult admission at $4 and stated children and seniors were listed as $2, but age breakouts and some child-price detail were not specified on the record. The presentation and council Q&A focused on logistics and access rather than new policy changes.
